Vi, an Introduction

Violet Fern was my grandmother's name - "Vi" for short. I always loved her name and thought it so perfect a choice for the name of my garden, my dream garden store ... hey, a blog! Somehow I have become an obsessive gardener. I cannot pinpoint exactly when. I watch my husband's eyes glaze over when I begin to talk about gardening and my garden plans - again. I try to keep myself in check when friends and family (tentatively) bring up gardening in my presence. I know that I must meet and share my garden with only those as obsessed as I am (I know you're out there), and spare everyone else. How can I do that? Hey, how about a blog!

Two years ago this month we moved into our home. Our yard is an L-shape and I was blessed (???) with a blank slate (as pictured). Oh, and a chain link fence - great. Although I do enjoy the neighboring mature trees, I have none of my own. What to plant? Where? Sun? Shade? Native? Wildlife value? Herb garden? Vegetable garden? Privacy? Texture? Blooms? Winter interest? Blah, blah, blah ... These are my CONSTANT thoughts. So, this is my tale about my garden in the making.
