A traditional Poinsettia.
An African Violet.
I have four. Two are in bloom, and two are not.
The one above belonged to my husband's grandmother. I spotted it during her funeral "party." I unashamedly asked for it. I had lost my own grandmother's violets during my move to Colorado. This way, I still have a violet from one of our grandmothers. It is special to see it happy and blooming.
But the biggest bloom here in my garden right now is PUPPY LOVE! I am proud to introduce you to Mojo, my newest friend and lucky charm. He has a "taste" for plants, but I am confident he will learn the difference between edible and admirable. He will be a great gardening companion.
Bloom day is hosted (and created by) Carol at May Dreams Gardens.
Oh! Mojo is so cute!!! What breed is he? I'm guessing labradoodle, or some poodle cross. I just love puppies. I'm one of those weird women who get puppy urges, not baby urges. I only had one baby urge after I had my son, and it went away in a few seconds. But puppy urges, I get those every few years. Hence, the 4 dogs we own! But, I do admit that now my kids are older I wish I would have had more children.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBut I have to say Mojo is just tooo cute! My dog liked to chew on plants when she was a puppy but got over that stage pretty quickly.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI love your little friend. I enjoy growing African Violets too. I have three. I think it is wonderful that you were able to get your husband's grandmother's violet. That just makes it so much more special.
Mojo is so cute. You are so lucky to have a puppy. What a great Christmas present!
ReplyDeleteMojo... in time for the holiday festivities. Should be fun!

Thank you all so much for your comments. My violets are still blooming - yeah! Mojo is a golden doodle - half golden retriever, half standard poodle (his father is a red standard poodle). He is a ball of fire and I can barely keep up with him! But so far a very good dog - very responsive and eager to please. He is still pruning my plants here and there but hey, it's winter in the garden so that doesn't matter much - hopefully he will outgrow this by Spring Catherine! I can't imagine having FOUR dogs Frenchie - you are a super star! Four violets I can handle - ha.
