April Showers

Raindrops keep falling on my ...

... crocus blooms. And just like the guy whose feet are too big to tread in my flower bed, those raindrops keep falling ...

... and falling on my buds. So I just did some talking to the sun to shine things up and warm my bleeding hearts. But raindrops keep falling on my sedum heads. They keep falling ...

... on my blue spruce. But beautiful blue will not defeat me. It won't be long until Spring unfurls to greet me.

Raindrops keep falling and falling on my head, but that doesn't mean my iris will soon be turning red.

No my tulips will turn red instead.

So I'm not complaining that it keeps on raining because you see ...

... rabbits and deer won't eat my daffodils, so nothing's worrying me. Raindrops keep falling but I'll have May flowers from these April showers and that's fine by me.

  1. lovely you made me smile at the rain which we have had so much of the past couple of weeks, thank you,
do by chance know the name of the buttery crocus in your third photo as I have some just like that but they came in a mix bag with no name,

  5. LOL. Now I'll be singing that song for days. (I know I'm dating myself, but it was a favorite film when I was in my 20s.) Several days last week, as I walked to work through cold rain that clung to the flowers and trees, I kept wishing I had my camera with me. It's so nice to see that you captured the pictures I missed. Aren't you counting your blessings that it's raindrops and not snowflakes falling in your buds. -Jean

  6. Lovely and thrilling to see the new life emerging in your garden. Mine too! It is a magical time of year and yes the April showers are welcome by me as well. A familiar tune too . . . have not thought of it in years. Uplifting and fun post Violet Fern! Happy Spring finally!

  7. Thank you so much for stopping a moment to sing in the rain! I was singing this song in my head for days! I am glad to have brightened a rainy day for some of you. I am sorry Island Threads but I do not know the butter yellow variety of crocus. I bought a bag at Lowe's when we first moved in just so we would have some spring bulbs. It simply says "botanical mix."
